Carlisle Road Residence

GREENSBORO, NC

This elegant Georgian house was built on five acres the owner assembled in an old residential neighborhood in Greensboro. The formal and graceful entrance façade and arrival court are balanced by a series of intimate terraces and gardens that Acanthus and the landscape architect created behind the house. The colonnade that connects the house and garage separates the entrance and service courts and also serves as a car port.

The owner of the home is an outstanding residential builder, which resulted in a very positive and productive collaboration between the owner and Acanthus. High quality materials were used throughout the project. Exterior materials include hand-molded brick in a Flemish bond and a Virginia slate roof. The classical details were all custom-milled from cellular PVC. The interior millwork is also entirely custom-fabricated to Acanthus designs, including doors, trim, cabinetry, paneling, and mantles. The paneling and cabinetry in the library is wormy chestnut.
